Patch Poll: Should Foster City Patch Include Bridgepointe Shops in Readers' Choice Polls?

Many Peninsula residents don't even know Bridgepointe is in San Mateo - not Foster City.

Just about every week since we launched our Readers' Choice polls in February, Foster City Patch has picked at least one Bridgepointe Shopping Center business.

And just about every week, we've gotten at least one comment or email telling us (accurately): "That's not in Foster City!"

Our reasoning for including them in our polls is that although Bridgepointe is part of San Mateo, we believe the shopping center shares a regional identity with Foster City, and that it is only because of quirky mapping that these mostly big-box stores that are heavily frequented by Foster City residents are in San Mateo, which of course reaps the tax revenues from them.

Earlier this week a Patch reader suggested we poll it, and we thought that was a terrific idea.

And so here it is, the Foster City Patch BSC poll.

The results of this poll will guide, but will not be the sole determining factor in our decision on whether or not to include BSC businesses in future Readers' Choice polls.

We just want to know what you think.

We'll keep this poll open for a week (it expires on Thursday, April 26). So please vote, and feel free to make your voice heard in our comments section too.

I voted no, only because there are so many family owned businesses in Foster City, I don't want to take away from their popularity;

Phyllis, I like your way of thinking and can't wait until we get our empty shops open and vibrant again.

thanks, Zack, home grown businesses are the backbone of this community, I will visit these shops first before any others.
