Free E-waste Drop-Off and Community Shred Event in Foster City

Community shred events give individuals the opportunity to have their confidential documents destroyed on site, free of charge.

RethinkWaste.org is teaming up with the city of Foster City to hold a free Drop-Off Electronic Collection and Community Shred Event on Saturday in Foster City.

The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Aug. 17 at the City Hall Parking lot: 610 Foster City Blvd., Foster City.

Community Shred:  To raise awareness and to promote prevention of consumer fraud and identity theft, Community Shred events give individuals the opportunity to have their confidential documents destroyed on site, free of charge, whether it is small business documents you no longer need or personal papers you want to safely dispose of.  Note: There is a limit of 3 boxes per household.

E-waste Drop-Off:  It is illegal to dispose of electronics in the trash.  Do the right thing–recycle your personal or business electronics and computer equipment for FREE.  See item list below.

Acceptable Items

Camcorders, Cell Phones, Chips and Components, Computers, Computer Monitors, Connectors/Cables, DVD Players, Fax Machines, Keyboards, Lab Equipment, Fluorescent Tubes/Lamps (limit 5 tubes per residence), Laptops, Main Frames, Mice, Optical Drives, PC Boards, PDA's, Printed Circuit Boards, Printers, Radios, Scanners, Servers, Stereos, Storage Discs, Tape and Zip Drives, Televisions, UPS Power Supply Units and VCR's

Unacceptable Items

Household Appliances (Fans, Floor Heaters, Smoke Detectors, Vacuum Cleaners, etc.), Kitchen Appliances (Cooktops, Dishwashers, Microwaves, Ovens, Stoves, Refrigerators/Freezers) or Large Appliances.  Household Hazardous Waste:  (Motor oil, Oil filters , Antifreeze, Automotive batteries, Latex paint, large quantities of Fluorescent lamps (including compact fluorescents), Household batteries)
