Sunday, Aug. 21

AT&T announced Friday it has made designed to increase coverage and expand capacity. The upgrades should make an immediate impact on both network accessibility as well as staying connected to the network, the company said.

We ran Laura Dudnick's footage of the hundreds of dogs that strutted their stuff at in San Mateo on Saturday. The event raised money for the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA.

Monday, Aug. 22

San Mateo Police, with the help of the local fire department, were able to around 10 a.m. Monday morning. After the suspects fled the gas station on foot, police sent out a description and fire department personnel spotted them in the area.

In an effort to , the city has embraced a recycling technique called "cold-in-place." Crews began work on residential resurfacing on Catamaran, Spinnaker and Cutter streets Aug. 1, sealing cracks and making localized fixes. The entire project is expected to take around six weeks to complete. During that time, streets may be closed and parking prohibited as work goes on.

Patch continued its series "Dispatches: The Changing American Dream" Monday with a story about local couple Zoltan and Alison Gombosi and that not only fit their budget, but their dream, and seemed worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars they would have to pay to get it.

Patch was on hand to videotape the 3rd Annual Firefighters Chili Cook-off over the weekend. of the event and see which San Mateo County firefighter served up the best chili.

Tuesday, Aug. 23

At least 40 were -- the third in as many weeks -- that slowed down the evening rush hour commute Monday night. BART announced a hearing that would come later in the week, to discuss a plan of action for further protests officials had already caught word of.

Wednesday, Aug. 24

In preliminary reports released by the California Employment Development Department, Foster City unemployment was at just over 6 percent in the month of July, while statewide, it rose to 12 percent. that shows how Foster City is holding up against other San Mateo County cities.

As schools opened their doors for the new year this week, the San Mateo-Foster City -- Parkside Montessori and Helping Hands.

Thursday, Aug. 25

BART officials in which they discussed the recent controversial decision to shut down cell service in several San Francisco stations to help diffuse a planned protest that would disrupt weekday evening rush hour. Officials said they are continually finding themselves debating both sides of a fine line between allowing protesters freedom of speech and providing public safety. It was decided a firm policy needs to be put in place to deal with future protests, of which officials know many are planned.

San Francisco of the man suspected of brutally beating a man in the restrooms at Candlestick Park during the 49ers/Raiders game last weekend. The beating wasn't the only violence that took place that night -- a shooting took place in the parking lot as well.


Friday, Aug. 26
