Street Repairs and Closures to Begin Aug. 1 in Foster City

Streets may be temporarily closed and street parking prohibited during the day that streets are worked on.

Starting Aug. 1, various streets in Foster City will be repaired as part of this summer’s Residential Street Improvement Project.

The work will include repair of pavement failures followed by either asphalt paving or slurry sealing of the roadway surface. Work activities will typically take place Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

"Because of the extensive work required, the project is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete," the City said in a statement. "However, weather or unforeseen conditions may affect the overall schedule...there may be instances when work activities will need to take place outside the normal periods."

Streets may be temporarily closed and street parking prohibited during the day that streets are worked on.  The City’s contractor will provide residents with two advance written notifications outlining the dates for working on their streets and temporary signage will be posted along the roadway to alert residents and visitors of parking restrictions.

Also, vehicular access to driveways may be restricted on the day of work.  Residents should make sure that their cars are not parked in the roadway during the times posted on temporary signs.

To avoid delay, residents who need to use their cars should plan to park on a nearby street not posted for work. Residents who plan to be on vacation, must make arrangements to park cars off the street to avoid towing.

"The City appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation with any inconvenience caused by this construction activity as we work to maintain our streets," officials said.
