SamTrans Seeking Input on Proposed Day Pass, Other Changes

SamTrans is seeking public input at four community meetings this week on whether it should create a day pass and make a number of other changes.

The agency is considering creating a day pass that would allow SamTrans customers to ride all day. The pass, which would cost three times the price of a one-way fare, would offer an option to customers who ride more than one bus daily, representatives said.SamTrans does not offer transfers.

The agency is also considering other changes to its codified tariff -- which outlines SamTrans fares and rules -- including revising language to reflect the implementation of the Clipper card. The proposed language revisions include eliminating monthly paper passes and clarifying interagency transfer agreements, SamTrans officials said.

The first meeting is being held at 4 p.m. today at Cunha Intermediate School at 600 Church St. in Half Moon Bay. Another meeting will be held at the same time on Tuesday in East Palo Alto City Council chambers at 2415 University Ave.

On Wednesday, SamTrans will host a 6 p.m. meeting at its headquarters at 1250 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos, and the fourth meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in South San Francisco City Council chambers at 400 Grand Ave.
