A mountain lion was seen Wednesday night in Portola Valley, San Mateo County emergency officials said. The cat was spotted near the 300 block of Willowbrook Drive shortly after 10 p.m.
Another mountain lion sighting was reported less than a mile away, near Alpine Road, at around 9:20 p.m. on Monday.
Residents are advised to keep an eye on small children and avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk or night when mountain lions are most active. Anyone who encounters a mountain lion should face the animal, make noise, and try to appear larger by waving arms and throwing rocks, emergency officials said.
