Sling Media Co-Founder Headed For Microsoft

The developer of the Slingbox, based in Foster City, will serve as corporate VP.

Sling Media co-founder Blake Krikorian, who recently sold his latest start-up company, id8 R2 Studios, to Microsoft, will join Microsoft as a corporate vice president in the company's Interactive Entertainment Business, home of the Xbox.

Sling Media, based in Foster City, became Slingbox as the announcement was made late last week. Krikorian sold Sling Media, which developed the Slingbox streaming device, to EchoStar Communications five years ago.

Kikorian resigned from the board of directors at Amazon in December in anticipation of his assignment.

The company, id8 R2 Studios, that Microsoft purchased develops applications for the smart phone.

Krikorian said in a press release: "I am excited to join Microsoft and be a part of the Xbox team. As a 10-year Xbox LIVE subscriber, I have seen firsthand how Xbox has delighted us by reinventing how consumers experience games and entertainment. I look forward to helping the team define the future of entertainment and contribute to the next decade of continued innovation."
