Paul Martin's to Open at Hillsdale Shopping Center

Hillsdale Shopping Center guests will be treated to another dining option come next week.

Paul Martin's American Grill is set to open in San Mateo on Monday, July 8, its fifth location in California.

Conceived by Brian Bennett and legendary restaurateur Paul Fleming as the restaurant they always wanted in their neighborhood, Paul Martin’s serves classic American food with a fresh twist using local and peak-of-the-season ingredients, company officials said.

Bennett spent more than a year handpicking dishes for Paul Martin’s menu, which is always evolving and aims to source the best in each community. 

The five restaurants maintain more than 40 partnerships with select farmstead producers. Every item on the menu is made from scratch with the highest quality ingredients. 

“We are so happy to be opening another location in Northern California as we continue to grow,” said Anthony Smith, President – Partner of Paul Martin’s.

The restaurant opening brings 102 full- and part-time jobs to the San Mateo area.

Hillsdale Shopping Center General Manager Larry Ivich said the restaurant will be a welcome addition to the mall.

“Our customers have been asking for sustainable, organic and locally sourced menu selections at fair prices,” Ivich said. “Paul Martin’s American Grill will offer them everything they want.”

The menu will rotate seasonally with seafood from sustainable fisheries, freerange and natural meats and poultry, artisan cheeses and cured meats.

Paul Martin’s most popular dishes include Pitman Family Farms “brick” chicken with mashed potatoes and fresh herb jus, Marinated Skirt Steak with grilled maple bourbon sweet potatoes and arugula, and their signature banana cream pie.  

The restaurant’s focus on peak-of-the-season ingredients extends to the bar, showcasing seasonal fruit-infused vodkas made in house and used in signature cocktails.

In addition, Paul Martin’s offers several craft beers on tap; and an extensive wine list with more than 100 bottles, 80 of which are available by the glass. 

The indoor dining room has approximately 176 seats with room for 76 on the patio. The entire property, including kitchen, dining room, bar and patio, is approximately 6,810 square feet.
