Could Gas Really Reach $3/Gallon this Summer?

Experts are expecting gas prices to continue to plummet this summer, reaching $3. Could it be true?

If you've filled up your gas tank lately, you probably noticed how much more you can get - and save.

Following weeks of rising gas prices throughout California, pump prices have now turned the corner and started to fall in the Golden State, according to AAA Insurance, which tracks gas prices as a service to consumers.

The organization's survey of gas prices revealed that every metro area in Northern California saw a drop in its average price over the past month.

As of Friday, the lowest gas in Foster City appears to be at the Chevron at 1101 E. Hillsdale Blvd., at $3.94. However, San Mateo has that one beat by a bit, with a price of $3.88 at the San Mateo Auto Care and Gas at 1471 E. 3rd Ave.

Gas prices will continue to drop this summer, according to economists, due to a drop in crude oil as a result of the increase in Saudi Arabian supply and higher United States refinery production.
