Road Construction to Begin Soon, Expect Traffic Delays

Resurfacing of local streets will begin later this month.

Foster City's Summer Resurfacing Project will begin soon, and drivers are advised that road construction could cause traffic delays.

Resurfacing will begin on Monday, June 25 on Gull Avenue from Killdeer Court to Swan Street and Baffin Street from Pitcairn Drive to the cul-de-sac. The work will include asphalt grinding, followed by asphalt repaving.

City representatives said, while the streets will remain open in each direction during the work, construction will result in disruption of normal traffic patterns. Traffic control and lane closures will be in effect.

Motorists should expect delays and plan extra time for travel while construction is underway. Motorists are also advised to seek alternate routes if possible.

"The City appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation with any inconvenience caused by this construction activity as we work to maintain our streets," representatives said in a press release issued last week.

The City’s general contractor for the project is O’Grady Paving, Inc. of Mountain View.  Work activities will normally take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. However, there may be instances when work activities will need to take place outside the normal periods.

The project is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete. However, weather or unforeseen conditions may affect the overall schedule.

Anyone with questions about the construction can contact the Foster City Public Works Department at 650-286-3270.  Updated information about the project will also be posted periodically on the City of Foster City website at www.fostercity.org.
