Why Go: The City of Foster City, the Parks and Recreation Department and the Peninsula Jewish Community Center offer family swim night every Friday at PJCC.  Foster City residents are invited to visit the PJCC to enjoy an evening of swimming and open-play basketball.

Why Go: Call or come by for a free 30 minute private lesson from a Professional Black Belt Instructor. Kids ages 3 and up, and Adults of any age will learn Self Defense Basics and Martial Arts Techniques. United Studios of Self Defense has been helping people learn about Martial Arts for fifteen years in Foster City.

Why Go: It is Foster City’s second year participating in Streets Alive, but the vision is limitless in terms of the social and physical benefits. We can really transform our local communities by integrating this kind of activity into a new tradition -- moving from an annual event to regular and habitual community activity.

Where/When: San Mateo Performing Arts Center 600 N Delaware St, San Mateo on April 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go:  A charming and sophisticated story of four women who escape the dreariness of Victorian England and find friendship, renewal, and romance when they rent a villa together in sunny Italy.

Where/When: 1801 J Hart Clinton Dr, San Mateo on April 30 from 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Why Go: The Second Annual Mormon Helping Hands Day of Service will be held throughout California on April 30th, 2011.  Local members of the Mormon Church will gather to clean Coyote Point and the Bay Trail in San Mateo County.  Other community service projects will simultaneously be taking place throughout the state of California.

Why Go: Bay Area residents can meet the "little white fluffy dogs" that are hard to find in local shelters. Poodles, bichons, maltese, shih tzus,and mixes are available every Saturday. The dogs are young, active, and submissive.

Why Go: Lace up your shoes for the 2011 Every Step Counts 1 Mile Walk/5K Run on April 30th, in support of enhancing the independence, self sufficiency and quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities who might otherwise be alienated from mainstream of society.
