Obituary: Former City Councilman Dies

Gaylon "Tex" Freemon worked tirelessly on numerous boards and committees to enhance the quality of his community.

Resident of Foster City for 48 Years

Gaylon, forever known as "Tex", was born in Nebraska and peacefully passed away at Peninsula Hospital from complications of the flu.

Tex was a graduate of the University of Nebraska, a U.S. Army veteran and a Certified Civil Engineer who retired from the U.S. Navy in 1995.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Peggy; brother- Lyman; sons- Brian, Paul & Danny; & grandchildren- Eric, Meaghan & Melissa.

Tex & Peggy moved to Foster City in 1965 and Tex became actively involved in several community based organizations.

He worked tirelessly on several Boards and Committees to enhance the quality of life of those around him including being an integral part of the development of Foster City School.

Tex served on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the Board of Directors of both the YMCA & the Society of St. Vincent De Paul and was elected to the Foster City City Council. He was involved in youth sports, a member of the Foster City Golf Club, & served as Kit Leader for the Northern CA Myositis Association.

Friends are encouraged to attend a memorial celebration in Foster City at the Recreation Center, 650 Shell Blvd. on April 7, 2013 @ 2PM. Donations to the Myositis Association in Tex's name are suggested.
