Karl Sonkin is the author of this piece, yet he's talking about himself in the third person? That'sRead More very strange. Anyway, I'm still pissed at Kaiser. I was born at Kaiser hospital on Geary Blvd, and a lifelong Kaiser patient. Then, after I got laid off from my job, I let my coverage lapse for a few months. When I tried to re-apply, Kaiser told me they would not insure me because I'd previously sought help from them for a substance abuse issue. WTF? I had the courage to be honest with my health care provider about something most people keep hidden, and my punishment for seeking help is that I'm kicked to the curb and permanently banned from being covered by Kaiser? Shame on you, Kaiser Permanente! I just thank God Barack Obama made it illegal for you to continue to deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions.
