Bay Area Family Scammed on Disneyland Trip

A Bay Area family ends up not-so-happy at the 'happiest place on earth.' The $800 tickets were likely to have been bought, voided and then sold to the victim.

A Bay Area family ended up not-so-happy at the "happiest place on earth" when they found out the Disneyland tickets they bought on Craiglist were worthless.

A family from the East Bay bought $800 worth of tickets to Disneyland in July, and when they drove down to use them, they discovered the tickets were fake, according to the Tri-Valley News.

Police have confirmed the scam and said there have also been two other similar, although unrelated, cases.

"We have had two other cases such as this and have cleared both.  The description on this most recent case is not consistent with the other suspects," said Sgt. Kurt Schlehuber of the Pleasanton Police Department.  "I do not feel they are related.  It is just a popular scam because people are still falling for it. "

Tri-Valley News reports that the tickets were likely to have been bought, voided and then sold to the victim. No suspects have been arrested in this case.

Pleasanton Police recommends buyers avoid making theses types of purchases on Craigslist and that they only go through authorized ticket sellers.
