Arts and Wine Festival Entertainment

Acts include Blue Tuesday, Lava, Vishwa Shanthi Academy and Gold Medal Martial Arts.

The Foster City Arts and Wine Festival offers a great schedule of entertainment, from music to martial arts to Zumba. A full schedule for this weekend's events can be found below. Descriptions and links of the acts from their respective websites are in italics.

Meadow Stage

Saturday

  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Blue Tuesday: "Blue Tuesday was started in 2005 by guitarists and vocalists Phil Di Leo and Jeff Baldock. The duo wrote BT's first few songs and soon recruited Eli Kirshbaum on keyboards and Dawson Timpany on drums. A few months later, the foursome brought Chris Griggs on as bassist. Blue Tuesday has been and continues to play and record music in their hometown of Nevada City, California."
  • 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., Gold Medal: "Gold Medal Martial Arts provides a comprehensive experience in the martial arts for everyone of all ages, including programs such as Taekwondo, Mighty Monkees, Total Defense, Ranger Training and Kido (cardio kickboxing). Gold Medal Martial Arts prides itself on developing excellence in every student."
  • 12:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., The Groove Kings: "The Groove Kinds musical repertoire ranges from popular rock n’ roll to classic R&B all designed to keep the dance party going. Whether it’s a popular Motown medley featuring “I Can' t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)”, Van Morrison’s ode to his “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Pick Up the Pieces” by the Average White Band, or the “Smooth” sounds of Santana, all the music is arranged and performed with the purpose of getting everyone on the dance floor, singing along and clapping their hands."
  • 3 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., Big Cat Tolefree (R & B): "From the inner-city limits of beautiful Oakland, California, Big Cat and his Hipnotic Band has single-handedly transformed the West Coast blues and soul sound with his trend-setting music and vocal style."
  • 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Mitch Woods and His Rocket 88s: "Mitch Woods and His Rocket 88’s are the torch bearers of a great American musical heritage. Taking their inspiration from the great jump n’ boogie outfits and swingin’ little big bands of the 40’s, they breathe fresh life into the music that gave birth to rock n’ roll. Mitch takes his cue from his jumpin’, n, jivin’, shoutin’ n’ honkin’, pumpin’ n’ poundin’ predecessors, Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway, Joe and Jimmie Liggins, Louis Prima, just to name a few."

Sunday

  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., High Mileage:"High Mileage is a cover band in the form of a duo, Joe Bavender and Scoty Griffin. We specialize in playing danceable music from just about all genres...even some originals."
  • 12:30 p.m. to 2:14 p.m., Swing Fever: "Since 1978 Swing Fever has been the choice band for sophisticated weddings, corporate events and parties in San Francisco and throughout Northern California. Quality music... Authentic big band sound... Swing Fever's musicians cut their chops with jazz legends... Critics rave: "Toe-tapping and relentlessly swinging..."
  • 3 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., Lava: "The band Lava is different from other Latin bands, meaning we're able to play different styles of Latin music such as: Latin Jazz, Cha-Cha-Cha, Latin Rock, Latin Funk, and Salsa. "

  • 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Vishwa Shanthi Academy: "Vishwa Shanthi Dance Academy was started in the fall of 1999 under the umbrella of Vishwa Shanthi, an organization promoting peace through the performing arts. Vishwa Shanthi always sought to emphasize the spiritual and subliminal aspects of art and not just the physical aspect."
  • 11:45 to 12:15 p.m., CY Danceworks

  • 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., Netra Center for the Arts:"Netra Center for the Arts is a unique Arts Center, based in Foster City, that specializes in offering best in class training in various forms of Indian Classical dance and music."
  • 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m, Allegro Music School: "Our school is a new community music school open to people of all ages and backgrounds who seek to discover and develop their musical interest. We believe that music is a very important part of education and our goal is to nurture a life-long love of music and joy in music making."

  • 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Challenge School: Chinese school
  • 12:15 p.m. to 1:15  p.m., United Studios of Self Defense: "United Studios of Self Defense, America's Self Defense Leader and the largest martial arts studio chain in North America. The United Studios of Self Defense Martial Arts System is an ever-changing wealth of knowledge that is always interesting and fun to learn."
